Avalanche Wildfire is a fire suppression company which became a reality in January 2004. Avalanche and its employees are based is scenic Pagosa Springs, Colorado, located in Southwest Colorado.

Avalanche believes in providing quality services for each and every assignment given. In an attempt to reach our highest potential, Avalanche Wildfire has developed high standards. Communication is vital to safety and a good working environment. Each crew member has their own hand-held radio that can be programmed to any frequency needed for an assignment.

Team work is a major key to safety. The Avalanche Wildfire team works and plays together year round. The crew performs grueling physical training sessions daily to keep in top condition for the demands of fighting wildland fires. All crew members are active volunteers with the Pagosa Fire Protection District. As well as working long hours, the crew members find time to attend weekly training session to hone their firefighting skills. Playing together includes riding snowmobiles, hiking, riding ATVs, rafting, grilling dinner, kicking off the boots and relaxing together. On the job, crew members work together to get the job done correctly and safely.

Avalanche Wildfire’s crew is highly experienced not only for project fires but for initial attack wildland fires. The crew also has years of prescribed fire and severity experience.

Avalanche Wildfire has a USFS contract to provide fire suppression services. All employees exceed NWCG 310.1 training requirements for the positions they hold. Cew member’s physical condition also exceed requirements.
